Ugandan rep: 'I will definitely attend COP29 in Azerbaijan'

The fashion industry has made a lot of "efforts" to damage the environment and thereby contribute to climate change. Therefore, COP28 participants decided to hold a fashion show as part of the conference and demonstrate that all this can be avoided. Fashion can be not only attractive, but at the same time respectful of nature, Ugandan model and activist, Miss Environment Africa, Judith Heard told Report in Dubai.

“I come from Uganda, a country that is experiencing great difficulties due to the negative effects of climate change. And we want to hear how these problems can be solved, and how the world will cope with global warming. I also want to encourage young people to actively participate in the fight against climate change. It's not just governments and officials who have to tackle these complex issues," she said.

Heard noted that she would like to visit Azerbaijan next year to attend COP29: “I will definitely go. The fight began here, and now is the time to act. Where the COP goes, we will follow it.”

The activist also noted that she has high hopes for Uganda's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.

“I think Uganda will actively address environmental issues during its chairmanship,” she noted.

Azerbaijan has officially been announced as the host of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29.
