"For the first time these days, winter has finally shown itself with snowfall. The snow cover has reached half a meter in some places. In high mountain areas, the temperature dropped to - 24 C. Absheron logged -2C, an unusual thing for this part of the country," Head of the National Hydrometeorology Department, Umayra Tagiyeva, told journalists.
According to Report, Tagiyeva said such weather would bring joy to children, but winds with speeds of up to 35-38 m/s forced the clouds to move away from the Absheron peninsula. Therefore, no heavy snowfall was recorded in nearby areas.
"A strong wind, 30 meters per second, will gradually die down towards midnight. South-west wind on February 11 will raise the temperature to 6 degrees. Although snowfall will cease in most regions, the process will continue in some southern areas until February 11 daytime. Snow is expected in the evening and at night in the south-eastern part of the Absheron peninsula".
