Professor: Annual flow in some rivers decreased by 12-15% in Azerbaijan

The annual water flow in some rivers has decreased by 12-15%, Professor Rza Mahmudov, head of the Land Hydrology and Water Resources department at the Institute of Geography, said during an event on "Regional climate changes in Azerbaijan and their impact on water resources" held in connection with COP29, Report informs.
Mahmudov stated that as a result of the current regional climate changes in the country and their impact on water resources, the average multi-year temperatures have increased by 1.1°C compared to the long-term norm: "There have been regime changes in the annual flow of river waters, and the annual flow volume in some rivers has decreased by 12-15%."
