Baku. 26 October. REPORT.AZ/ "No country, regardless of the level of development, has been insured against the effects of climate change," Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said.
Report informs that the minister was speaking at the Baku Forum on Sustainable Development.
He said that this is clearly seen in the recent natural disasters and extreme events.
The Minister noted that climate change affects not only ecological, but also economic and social aspects of sustainable development: "The vast majority of the world's population is suffering from water scarcity, and this problem is expected to aggravate further. In order to ensure the commitment to the Agenda of Sustainable Development, adaptation measures are required in areas that are sensitive to climate change. This includes integration of water resources, adoption, reduction of losses, adaptation of agriculture to changing climate conditions, afforestation and so on."
