Heat in Czech Republic leads to mass death in Oder River

In the Czech Republic, the heat over the past three weeks has caused a decrease in the oxygen level in the water of the Oder River, located in the northeast of the country, and mass death of fish, Report informs, citing local ČTK news agency.

The high temperature of the water causes the amount of oxygen to decrease, and this happened in the upper reaches of the Oder River, which starts in the northeast of the Czech Republic. The river then passes through Poland and Germany. Net barriers have been erected on the Polish side of the border to prevent dead fish swimming downstream. About 200 kg of dead fish have already been caught.
