The frosty and snowy weather observed in recent days in Azerbaijan has had a positive impact on forest plantations and greenery in general. The sub-zero temperature destroyed eggs, larvae and adults of insect pests wintering in tree trunks, under forest cover, reducing the development and growth of pathogenic fungi, official representative of the Forest Development Service Vahid Farzaliyev told Report.
He noted that during periods of dry weather in some areas, an increase in the number of rodents and insect pests was observed.
"The abundance of rainfall in recent days has increased soil moisture, frosty weather has destroyed pests."
