Volcanologists have observed an ash eruption reaching up to 2 kilometers high at the Ebeko volcano on Paramushir Island of the Great Kuril Chain, located in the Sakhalin Oblast, according to Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, Report informs via TASS.
The Ebeko volcano, situated in the northern Paramushir, stands at 1,156 meters tall. It became active in mid-November 2016 and has shown increased activity with a high probability of eruption. The last eruption occurred on August 19.
