COP29 Presidency launches int'l photography competition to capture climate action

The COP29 Presidency has announced an international photography competition titled "Climate Action in Focus".

According to Report, which cites COP29's X account, photographers from around the world are invited to express the essence of climate change through their camera lenses and showcase the impact of climate issues on communities, landscapes, and ecosystems.

The conceptual line of the photo contest focuses on communities living worldwide, their cultural life, and role in environmental protection. It also highlights the influence of climate change on landscapes, ecosystems, flora, and fauna that suffer from these consequences, in harmony with the themes of the COP29 conference. The thematic foundation of the competition includes forest and biodiversity protection, water resource management, sustainable agriculture, climate change adaptation, and cultural heritage preservation.

Submitted photographs will be divided into four categories embracing climate change impacts, climate solutions and innovations, youth and education, and flora and fauna. A panel of experts will evaluate the entries based on various criteria such as creative approach, technical skills, and the essence of effective communication.

Winning photographers will have their works displayed at a special exhibition during the COP29 conference, providing them an opportunity to showcase their talents to the world. Additionally, selected photographs will be widely featured on various platforms, including the official conference website and social media channels.
