The issue of climate change is a priority for Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva said at an event within the framework of the Baku Climate Action Week.
According to Report, she noted that special attention should be paid to the topic of methane emissions, as they play a significant role in environmental pollution.
"This is one of the most powerful pollution factors, which over the past 20 years has exceeded carbon dioxide by more than 80 times," she said.
Taghiyeva also noted that by 2030, methane emissions as production waste should be reduced by approximately 30-35%.
"It is very important that one of the days of the climate week is dedicated to the topic of methane emissions," she concluded.
