Azerbaijani minister: Global warming causes various diseases in trees

Diseases in trees are emerging due to global warming and climate impact, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev told journalists, according to Report.

Babayev noted that the causes of some diseases with unknown origins affecting plants are being investigated:

"We are fighting against known diseases, carrying out disinfection work, and taking measures to protect trees. However, there are diseases about which we don't have much knowledge, and they are being studied. I believe that scientists will determine measures against these as well.

Diseases in trees occur due to global warming and climate impact. The age of trees and drought issues also have their effects. We are trying to plant new, more resistant species. Currently, we are planting Eldar pine, Oriental plane, and other species in Yevlakh. There will be an opportunity to monitor their adaptation process here."
