Heavy downpours in Azerbaijan have led to a significant rise in water levels in both local and transboundary rivers, according to Asif Verdiyev, the director of the Hydrology Center at the National Hydrometeorological Service.
Verdiyev told Report that the water level in the Kur River near the settlement of Giragkasaman increased by 6 cm, which is 30% higher than the 10-day norm and 10% higher compared to the previous year.
Similarly, the water level in the Ganikh River near the settlement of Jalair rose by 14 cm, which is close to the norm and 8% higher than the previous year.
The Araz River, near the settlement of Givrag, also experienced a 9 cm increase in its water level.
