Azerbaijan may increase fines for animal cruelty

Azerbaijan applies a fine to prevent animal cruelty, and a project is currently being developed to increase the fine, Head of the State Environmental Security Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Hikmat Alizade said, Report informs.

He reminded that according to the Code of Administrative Offenses, the fine for animal cruelty is 500 manats: “We have repeatedly witnessed the cruel treatment of stray animals on social networks. The fine provided for by the code is too lenient. Therefore, it is proposed to increase the amount of fine and determine other strict types and measures of liability.”
