Azerbaijan develops rules for artesian and subartesian wells - OFFICIAL

"Amendments are planned to the legislation on 'Subsoil,' as well as rules on ordering, design, drilling, and operation of artesian and subartesian wells," Mutallim Abdulhasanov, head of the Water Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, told Expert Hour, Report informs.

According to him, drilling wells will be a single document as a state document: "The requirements of the legislation must be followed. Groundwater must be protected as natural resources. If there are sufficient surface water resources in the area, groundwater drilling is not allowed. However, at low depths, use of groundwater is allowed at farmlands."
