Ziyad Samadzada will chair the first meeting of the 7th convocation of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Report informs.
According to the Internal Charter of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, the first session of the new convocation must be led by the oldest deputy. In the case of the 7th convocation, this honor falls upon Ziyad Samadzada, the 84-year-old MP from the 23rd Nasimi-Sabail constituency.
As per the rules, the oldest MP will open the first session, read out the list of elected MPs, and preside over the proceedings until a new speaker is elected.
Under the chairmanship of the oldest member, the Milli Majlis will elect a Counting Commission. Subsequently, the election of the speaker and deputy speakers will take place, marking the conclusion of the first meeting of the new convocation.
