At 12 p.m. (GMT+4) sharp, traffic movement will stop for a minute throughout the republic, and all citizens will cease movement to honor the memory of those killed in the war. This date has special significance for every citizen of Azerbaijan.
On September 27, 2020, the 44-day war, also known as the Second Karabakh War, began, during which the valiant Azerbaijani army liberated the occupied territories of Karabakh and adjacent regions.
The price of this victory was the lives of more than 2,900 servicemen who became martyrs and forever inscribed their names in the heroic chronicle of the country.
By decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, as a sign of deep respect for the servicemen who fought heroically and gave their lives for the territorial integrity of the country, September 27 was declared a Remembrance Day and is annually observed in Azerbaijan.
