SCO Secretary General: Azerbaijan proved its interest in holding transparent elections

By inviting international observers, Azerbaijan proved that it is interested in holding open and transparent elections, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming said at a press conference following the results of monitoring the early presidential elections in Azerbaijan.

He recalled that the SCO observer mission arrived in Azerbaijan at the invitation of the country's Foreign Ministry.

"The mission has been conducting observations since February 4. It was a great honor for me to take part in the historic presidential elections for Azerbaijan. Our mission included 20 observers representing the parliaments of the SCO countries. By inviting international observers, Azerbaijan proved that it is interested in holding open and transparent elections," he said.
