President: Amendments related to national holidays fully reflect historical realities and historical justice

"On my initiative, Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan introduced amendments related to national holidays. I consider that these amendments full reflect historical realities and historical justice," President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with the Fuzuli district public representatives, Report informs.

Noting that May 28 - the day of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is the primary independence day for Azerbaijan, the head of state added: "Today we, as an independent state, are the heirs of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. And the independence was restored on October 18, 1991. The approved amendments put an end to this discrepancy."
