Armenia should pay compensation to Azerbaijan for mine terrorism, Sabina Aliyeva, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsperson), said at the round table themed "Protection of persons with disabilities and landmine victims in Azerbaijan" held in Baku on December 4, Report informs.
According to her, burying anti-tank and anti-personnel landmines is a war crime: "International organizations and courts should address this issue."
Aliyeva noted that landmines were mostly buried in cemeteries: "Because they know that it is in our mentality to visit cemeteries. Therefore, the Armenians mainly buried mines in the houses and cemeteries belonging to our citizens in the territories during the occupation."
