Kamran Aliyev: Armenia constantly violates int'l environmental conventions

Armenia has constantly violated the requirements of existing international conventions, Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev said, Report informs.

Aliyev made the remark at the scientific-practical conference held in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on August 16.

Prosecutor General specifically pointed out Armenia's disregard for the 1991 UN Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (ESPO), the 1992 UN Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, the 1999 Protocol on Water and Health.

The Prosecutor General highlighted a bitter consequence of Armenia's aggressive policies: the destruction of Azerbaijan's water resources. This ecological warfare has deprived the Azerbaijani population of access to the rich water resources in Eastern Zangazur for years.
