International conference on missing persons takes place in Baku

The State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) organized an international conference "Addressing the problem of missing persons: upholding 'the right to know' for the families" in Baku, Report informs

According to Report, representatives and experts from international institutions on missing persons and human rights, employees of foreign institutions working in the relevant field, as well as family members of missing persons participated in the event.

First, an address from the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the conference participants was read, followed by a short film about missing persons.

The head of the State Security Service (SSS) and chairman of the State Commission, Ali Naghiyev, spoke at the event.

Then other speakers detailed the work done and upcoming tasks to determine the fate of missing persons.

The event continued with panel sessions on the topic.
