Community head: No amount can compensate for moral damage Armenia caused to Western Azerbaijanis

No amount can compensate for the moral damage caused by Armenia to Western Azerbaijanis, chairman of the West Azerbaijan community, Aziz Alakbarli, said at a public hearing on the topic “Return to Western Azerbaijan: Legal Aspects”, organized by the Committee on Legal Policy and State Building of the Milli Majlis.

"During the last deportation of Azerbaijanis from Armenia, which took place in 1987-1991, more than 200 of our compatriots were brutally killed by Armenians, more than 400 were injured. Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled from approximately 300 settlements, and they suffered material damage in the amount of $2.5 billion for private farmsteads, $17.5 billion dollars for public enterprises. Add to this the damage caused to underground and above-ground resources, historical and cultural monuments, and the amount will increase significantly. No amount can compensate for the moral damage," he said.
