Border Shield events kick off in Azerbaijani districts bordering Russia

Joint comprehensive operational-search and preventive measures are being carried out under the code name 'Border Shield' in the district of Azerbaijan bordering Russia,

According to the northwestern bureau of Report, the events were organized on the basis of a mutual agreement between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan and Russia.

The main goal of the operations, which will last a week, is to implement decisions made on issues of border cooperation, identify and neutralize members of transnational organized criminal groups and terrorist organizations, block the channels of financial and material resources used for the acquisition of weapons, explosives and devices, narcotic drugs, as well as carrying out other illegal acts.
