Today Baku hosted a conference on the topic “Armenia's war crimes against Azerbaijan over the past 30 years”, organized by the Center for Social Research.
Report informs that the meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Center Zahid Oruj, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Chingiz Asgarov, Head of the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office Nemat Avazov, Deputy Commander of the Military Unit for Ideological Work and Moral and Psychological Support of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Elshad Abilov, deputies Milli Majlis and others.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Board of the Center Zahid Oruj stated that the fuss around the video footage of the alleged killing of Armenian soldiers on October 2 this year is aimed at denigrating Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day Patriotic War.
Oruj said Azerbaijan waged the Second Karabakh war in full compliance with international law: "After our victory, the world saw more than 1 million mines buried in liberated lands. Not a single murderer from Khojaly has been tried in international courts. Most of their 'heroes' of the last 30 years are those who committed crimes against our people. The Hague Tribunal should have tried these Armenian criminals."
He stressed that a commission should be established to investigate the war crimes committed by Armenia in the first and second Karabakh wars.
Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan Chingiz Asgarov said at the conference that all materials related to Armenian crimes committed against the people of Azerbaijan have been submitted to the European Court.
"In January 2021, Azerbaijan submitted a major interstate complaint. In that complaint, of course, the acts constituting the war crimes committed by Armenia were reflected in detail. I am sure that we will win. I am sure that the European Court will make a fair decision and compensation will be determined for Armenia to restore the violated rights of the people of Azerbaijan," he added.
Nizami Safarov, a member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), said that the war crimes committed by Armenians are the logical result of the asymmetric war they waged against Azerbaijan.
Nemat Avazov, head of the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office, noted that unknown sources have recently been circulating videos on social networks of the alleged killing of several captured Armenian servicemen and violent acts on their bodies: “I declare that Azerbaijan is a state of law; the Prosecutor General's Office opened a criminal case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan for each circulated video. In connection with this, I want to touch on one point - an examination of the bodies of servicemen transferred to Azerbaijan during the Patriotic War was carried out. It revealed that some of servicemen were killed with extreme cruelty - their throats were cut, their ears and noses were cut off, and their skin was torn off. But due to the double standards, the international community has not yet reacted to this."
