The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, addressed an official letter to the head of the General Inspection Office, the human rights body of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Zabihullah Khodayan, Report informs, citing the Ombudsperson's Office.
In the letter, the Ombudsperson strongly condemned the terrorist act committed against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran on January 27, 2023, and brought to attention the gross violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and 1973 "Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents".
The Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan invited the human rights organization of Iran to take necessary and urgent measures within the framework of its powers to quickly hand over to justice the persons who organized and participated in the perpetration of such a treacherous attack.
