Azerbaijan's Seaside National Park has been named the winner of the prestigious "International Large Urban Parks Award" in recognition of its unique natural complex.
Report informs that the award was presented to the representatives of the Seaside Boulevard Administration at the Future Green City Congress held in Utrecht, Netherlands.
The World Urban Parks Organization, an influential international non-governmental organization in the field of park management, sustainable development, urban greening, and nature conservation, established the award. The winners are determined through a competition based on criteria such as the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of park management, as well as their social, economic, and ecological significance.
As Azerbaijan prepares to host the esteemed COP29 event on climate change and environmental protection, the international recognition of the Seaside National Park's ecologically healthy environment and effective management is a testament to its aesthetic beauty and the role it plays in urban culture. This recognition will also contribute to increasing the park's international visibility, alongside its adherence to sustainability principles.
Notable past winners of the award include Rouge National Urban Park in Canada, Auckland Botanic Gardens in New Zealand, and Dubai Safari Park, among others.
