The Okhchuchay River continues to be polluted by mining industry waste, according to Report, which quotes Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev.
Speaking at a scientific-practical conference in Nakhchivan today, Aliyev emphasized the significance of holding the event in the region following a similar conference in Khankandi.
Aliyev expressed concern over the deliberate contamination of the Araz River and its tributary, the Okhchuchay, during the prolonged conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"Unfortunately, during the years-long conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the shore and bottom of the Araz River were intentionally polluted with chemical and radioactive waste, and this process continues to this day," he stated.
The prosecutor general highlighted that rivers flowing into Azerbaijan through Armenian territory, particularly the Araz and Okhchuchay, are still contaminated by mining industry waste.
