The presence of a large number of mines and scrap metal in the liberated territories slows down demining work, the head of operations of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Gabil Babayev said in an interview with a Report correspondent sent to the Fuzuli district.
According to Babayev, demining work began after the 44-day war, but the presence of metal debris slows down the process. Work is underway in Fuzuli, Shusha, Ahmadbayli and other places.
The greatest contamination with mines is in the village of Horadiz, where scrap metal also complicates matters.
He noted that 70-80% of the territory has already been cleared, and the work continues.
Babayev recommended that citizens use only demined roads in designated areas when visiting the liberated territories.
