US Azerbaijanis appeal to international organizations regarding Armenia

The Azerbaijani community living in the US state of California appealed to the international community to protest against the large-scale provocation by the Armenian armed forces on the state border of Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.

"As members of the Azerbaijani community residing in California, we are deeply concerned about yet another blow to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

"We are disappointed by the provocative actions of the Armenian armed forces on September 12, 2022, when they carried out mining activities and fired mortars onto the territory of Azerbaijan.

"We demand that the international community intensify the pressure on the government of Armenia to honor the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, abide by the terms of the 2022 agreement, and cease all sabotage activities. We believe that these actions taken by Armenia are completely inconsistent with the process of normalization and peace and lead to destabilization, while Azerbaijan is investing in rebuilding the region and working towards a long-lasting peace agreement,” said the Azerbaijan Cultural Society of Northern California, headed by Aynur Agayeva," the statement reads.

The Azerbaijani community living in the state of Illinois, USA, has also appealed to the international community regarding the large-scale provocation launched by the Armenian armed forces on the state border of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America, headed by Farid Mammadov, released a statement regarding the large-scale sabotage attacks committed by the Armenian Army on September 12, 2022: "We bring to your attention that in the late hours of September 12, 2022, units of the Armenian armed forces carried out mining of the areas between the positions of the units of the Azerbaijani Army and in the supply roads, and certain positions of the Azerbaijan Army in the direction of Dashkasan, Kalbajar, and Lachin districts were fired upon from various types of weapons, including mortars. Unfortunately, the much-anticipated regional peace after the signing of November 9, 2020, ceasefire agreement was not fully materialized.

"According to the trilateral agreement, Armenia has pledged to withdraw all of its armed forces from Azerbaijani territories. However, to this day, it has failed to fulfill its obligations.

"We, Azerbaijanis of Illinois, reiterate that the countermeasures taken by Azerbaijan in response to the provocation of the Armenian armed forces are localized actions aimed at military targets.

"The military and political leadership of Armenia bears all responsibility for the provocation, confrontation, and losses. Despite the sheer devastation, the government of Azerbaijan is trying to forge a better future for both sides by ushering in a time of regional prosperity and security based on the rule of law and economic development. To date, however, it has yet to receive a positive response from both the Armenian government and the general public."
