The winners of the TÜBA - International Academy Award, organized and presented under the auspices of the Turkish president, have been announced.
Among the three laureates is an Azerbaijani professor from the University of Copenhagen, Dr. Messoud Ashina, who was awarded in the category of Health and Life Sciences, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora told Report.
The awards will be presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the TÜBA-TÜBİTAK Science Awards Ceremony, to be held at the Turkish presidential palace on December 28.
Prof. Dr. Messoud Ashina was born on December 29, 1965, in Baku. He graduated from Azerbaijan Medical University in 1988. In 2003, he graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a degree in neurology and defended his doctoral dissertation.
After completing his education under the guidance of Jes Olesen, one of the most important specialists on headaches, he remained at the same university due to his high achievements and successfully continued his academic life.
He was the President of the Danish Headache Society, the Secretary-General of the European Headache Federation, and the President of the International Headache Society in 2019-2021. He is currently the Director of the Human Migraine Research Center. By an order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, dated December 8, 2020, Messoud Ashina was elected a member of the Board of Trustees of the YASHAT Foundation.
