A commemorative event on the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Report informs.
The event, jointly organized by the Union of Progressive Azerbaijanis in Central Asia and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, was attended by MPs, representatives of the local community, Azerbaijani Diaspora in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, media outlets.
Speakers at the event, which began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide, said that Azerbaijani people will never forget and live down the terrible genocide committed by Armenian forces against peaceful and innocent Azerbaijanis in Khojaly on the night of February 25-26, 1992. As a result of the policy pursued by the Azerbaijani state, the world community was informed about the truth about the Khojaly genocide, the importance of giving an international legal and political assessment to this tragedy, and bringing to justice the perpetrators of the brutal crime.
It was noted that Azerbaijanis appealed to the Kyrgyz Parliament in connection with the official recognition of the Khojaly genocide.
With the support of the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, about 150 events on the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide will be held in 40 countries.
