The opening of the XIX Baku Jazz Festival took place at the Jolly Joker concert venue on the evening of October 17. The festival was opened by concerts of the famous Brazilian musician Munir Hossn and the Nurlan Huseynzadeh group. Munir Hossn is a famous Brazilian musician, multi-instrumentalist and composer, who has won many awards. He has been nominated for a Grammy award several times.
According to Report, the opening venue was completely filled with numerous jazz lovers. The entertainer of the festival Tofig Hasansoy opened the evening, and the art director of the festival Rain Sultanov noted from the stage the jazz mood of the audience and the importance for the organizers of the festival to convey this energy, a wave of good, beautiful music to everyone. Also, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Azerbaijan Manuel Montenegro made a welcoming speech. He said that it was no coincidence that the festival was opening with a concert of Brazilian music. This is very temperamental music, which suits the spirit of the Baku Jazz Festival well.
Munir Hossn emotionally greeted the audience and said that he was glad to be in Azerbaijan and take part in the Baku Jazz Festival. The musician thanked the organizers for the invitation and warm welcome.
Together with Munir Hossn, the female group ELAS performed: Maite Gonzalez (piano), Mariana Pilatos (flute), Yissi Garcia (drums), Michelle Velkons (percussion). Brazilian musician held a jam session with his Azerbaijani colleagues after the concert.
The XIX Baku Jazz Festival is held in Baku from October 17 to October 27. Performers from 11 countries will perform at various venues in the city. The festival will also include exhibitions, a book presentation and meetings with world jazz stars.
