Sumgayit marks 70th Anniversary of city status - PHOTO

An event was held on the occasion of 70th anniversary of granting the status of a city to Sumgayit.

Report informs citing the Sumgayit-Absheron bureau of Report that the event was attended by officials, parliamentarians, representatives of foreign embassies and representatives fraternal cities, as well as thousands of residents.

The jubilee event commenced in the morning on the Azerbaijan Avenue before the Sumgait City Executive Power.

Then a concert was held in front of the Sumgayit State Drama Theater with the participation of well-known artists. The anniversary event ended with fireworks.

Notably, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on celebration of the 70th anniversary of Sumgayit.
