Shvydkoi: Nizami Ganjavi preached ideas of peace also relevant for today

The poetry of Nizami Ganjavi preaches love and peace - topics that are especially important today, Mikhail Shvydkoi, the special representative of the Russian president for international cultural cooperation, told journalists.

Report quotes the Russian presidential representative as saying such a philosophy of "love and peace" is important not only in view of the conflict that was between Azerbaijan and Armenia, but "was relevant in those difficult times when it was written".

"Nizami's poetry is important for understanding the world of that time and geography, as well as today's culture," Mikhail Shvydkoi said.

An international forum, entitled "Creativity of Nizami Ganjavi - as a bridge between cultures", started in Baku today within the framework of the Year of Nizami Ganjavi, announced on the occasion of the 880th birth anniversary of the prominent representative of world literature, brilliant Azerbaijani thinker and poet. The forum is being held under the aegis of the Azerbaijani Culture Ministry and the Executive Authorities of Baku city.
