International Conference celebrates 950 years of Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk in Paris

The UNESCO headquarters in Paris hosted an international conference titled "Mapping the World in Lexicography: 950 Years of Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk."

According to Report, the event brought together officials from UNESCO, including Deputy Secretary-General Firmin Edouard Matoko, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Elman Abdullayev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to France Leyla Abdullayeva, President of the International Fund for Turkic Culture and Heritage Aktoty Raimkulova, as well as ambassadors and representatives of other Turkic states.

The conference aimed to highlight the significance of "Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk" in world cultural heritage and its contribution to the development of Turkic language and culture.

Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev, emphasized the importance of researching this work in Azerbaijani linguistics.

Seymur Fataliyev, Secretary-General of the National Commission for UNESCO, expressed support for all initiatives aimed at preserving Turkic heritage.

Due attention was also paid to Azerbaijan's role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Turkic peoples. The President of the International Fund for Turkic Culture and Heritage, Aktoty Raimkulova, emphasized that the fund was established on Azerbaijan's initiative and spoke about its activities in preserving "Divanu Lugat at-Turk."

The conference was attended by scientists and researchers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Hungary, and other countries, who discussed the historical and linguistic significance of Mahmud Kashgari's work, as well as his contribution to the study of Turkic language and culture.
