Azerbaijani gurama art showcased in Prague

Azerbaijani cultural heritage has been exhibited at the international level, Report informs, citing the State Historical-Architectural Reserve Ichersheher.
As reported, gurama (patchwork), the decorative art which has a special place in the culture of Azerbaijan, has been showcased beyond the borders of Azerbaijan.
The State Historical-Architectural Reserve Ichersheher, which always pays attention to protecting and promoting Azerbaijani national and cultural heritage, regularly supports the high-level display of Azerbaijani cultural and artistic pieces at conferences and events organized abroad.
This time there was an oral demonstration and presentation of various items of gurama, which is one of the essential parts of intangible cultural heritage, at the international level.
At the 26th conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), which was held in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, on August 22-28, 2022, the director of the Museum Center operating under the State Historical-Architectural Reserve Ichersheher, Amina Malikova, delivered a lecture entitled "Gurama - Azerbaijani Folk Applied Art".
The lecture, which aroused the particular interest of the participants, talked about the projects implemented to give a new life to the art of gurama, which has been in danger of being forgotten in recent times and introducing it to the world. It also gave information about the Gurama Center created in the State Historical Ethnography Reserve Gala and the National Gurama Festival held for the first time in Azerbaijan this year.
