On September 1, Azerbaijani Culture Minister Anar Karimov met with Hisham Mohamed Nagy Abdel Hamid, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Culture.
At the meeting, the officials exchanged views on the current cultural relations between the two countries and the planned projects.
Welcoming the ambassador, Anar Karimov emphasized that bilateral relations with the Arab Republic of Egypt are progressing upward. Recalling his visit to Egypt in December 2022, the minister noted that steps were taken to contribute to the development of cooperation in the meetings held during his visit.
At the same time, Anar Karimov briefed the ambassador about the Baku Process, proposed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in 2008, which aims to establish an efficient and effective dialogue between cultures and civilizations. He said that Baku Process is already recognized as a global platform by influential international organizations, including the UN.
Informing the ambassador about the Peace4Culture global initiative launched last year by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the minister drew attention to the fact that through this call, Azerbaijan is making efforts to preserve peace in the region and the world. He noted that the primary goal is to revive the cultural infrastructure in the liberated territories of the countries in the post-conflict period, to contribute to the provision of lasting peace in order to return the national and moral values to those lands. At the same time, this global campaign aims to convey to the world the current situation, the destroyed infrastructure and the vandalism committed against culture in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Hisham Mohamed Nagy Abdel Hamid thanked the minister for the warm reception. The diplomat expressed satisfaction with the embassy's participation in the projects and initiatives implemented by the ministry.
Later, the meeting continued with an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
