Zhang Ling: Azerbaijan plays important role in developing secure transport corridors

Azerbaijan plays an important role as a coordinating country in the development of safe and effective transport corridors, which is a priority area of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), CICA Deputy Secretary General Zhang Ling told a COP29 event on transport corridors held in Baku, Report informs.

Ling stated that as a key transit hub connecting Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan demonstrates the transformative potential of sustainable connectivity: "Considering that many CICA member states are transit countries, transport corridors are an integral part of our common vision for strengthening regional cooperation."

The deputy secretary general noted that CICA's common initiatives cover five main criteria: "These include economy, ecology, humanitarian areas, threats and challenges. CICA member states are committed to making significant contributions economically and environmentally, with particular attention to the development of climate-resilient transport corridors."
