Yalchin Rafiyev: Investment in people needed to respond to global warming challenges

Investment in people is needed to respond to the challenges posed by global warming, COP29's Lead Negotiator, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev told a COP29 session on "Baku Human Development Initiative for Climate Resilience," Report informs.

"Climate change affects every aspect of life: healthcare, education, labor markets, and most importantly, opportunities for future generations. To respond to the challenges posed by global warming, we must invest in people, and this investment must start from the earliest stage of life. Empowering children and youth through education, healthcare, and skills development must be part of a sustainable society. This investment should cover not only sustainability but also efforts to mitigate climate change. This means preparing the future workforce for the demands of the 'green economy' and reducing the climate impact of education and healthcare systems," Rafiyev emphasized.
