Uruguayan official: Food production important in implementing Paris Agreement

Food production plays an important role in achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement, Uruguay's Minister of Agriculture, Fernando Mattos Custo, said at a COP29 event titled "Launch of Baku Harmoniya Climate Initiative for Farmers: Empowering Farmers for Climate Resilience" held in Baku, Report informs.
"Latin America, which is associated with developing countries that are highly sensitive to climate change, accounts for 14% of the global food production. Uruguay is deeply committed to making food production more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable. We are fully aware of the major problem this creates and the limited resources currently available to solve it," the minister noted.
