UNEP executive director: COP29 has big climate action goals

COP29 is poised to set ambitious goals for climate action, according to a recent statement by a top UN official.

According to Report, Inger Andersen, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), shared her insights on the upcoming climate summit in a post on the social media platform X. She emphasized the conference's far-reaching objectives:

"New finance goals. Building momentum to new, ambitious NDCs. Action on methane, transparency and more. COP29 has big climate action goals. Good to meet with Minister Babayev, COP29 President, to discuss in detail," her post reads.

Andersen noted that UNEP will work with COP29 team to support success of the conference.
