Simon Stiell: UN countries must work together to tackle climate crisis

UN countries must work together to tackle the climate crisis, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Simon Stiell told a press conference of COP29 Azerbaijan Presidency, Report informs.

Stiell stressed that the climate crisis is already manifesting itself in different parts of the world: “We know that COP29 will face challenges and we will try to overcome those challenges.”

The executive secretary also noted that more investment is needed in the fight against climate change. “There must be a functional international financial market to fill financial gaps, and this should be one of the main topics of discussion at COP29. I believe we will join our efforts to face the challenges ahead,” Stiell said.
