The willingness of developed countries to fulfill their commitments to finance the fight against climate change is more important than the actual amount of funding, according to Sandi Jeffrey, Executive Director of Support Humanity Cameroon, an organization focused on development and environmental protection.
According to Report, speaking at the COP29 climate conference, Jeffrey expressed hope that the priorities of the COP29 agenda would focus on mobilizing resources that can provide real support to vulnerable communities.
"We have seen over many years that there are promises, but they are not backed by actions. Therefore, we would like to see more fulfillment of obligations, not promises," he stated.
Jeffrey noted that more than $5 trillion is needed to combat climate change, yet some developed countries, which bear responsibility for climate change, disagree with this figure.
"The amount that will be spent on combating climate change must be accessible," Jeffrey added.
