Romania hosts panel discussions dedicated to COP29

Panel discussions on "Global Climate Diplomacy: COP28, COP29, and COP30" were held at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, organized by the Energy Policy Group.

According to Report, the event was attended by Romania's Minister of Ecology, Waters, and Forests Mircea Fechet, State Advisor on Climate and Sustainability at the Romanian Presidential Administration Alexandra Bocse, Deputy Minister of Energy Dan-Dragos Dragan, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Romania Gudsi Osmanov, and Brazil's Ambassador Ricardo Guerra de Araujo.

The speakers addressed important issues such as combating environmental crises, dynamic changes in the global energy environment, and energy independence.

Romania's Minister of Ecology, Waters, and Forests Mircea Fechet spoke about the challenges countries face due to climate change and Romania's environmental policy: "At the COP29 event, it is very important for Azerbaijan to use and transmit renewable energy sources in cooperation with other countries."

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Romania Gudsi Osmanov provided detailed information to participants about the measures implemented in Azerbaijan toward environment and ecological sustainability, the work done within the framework of COP29 and the initiatives put forward, including the creation of the Climate Finance Action Fund and the "COP29 ceasefire":

"One of our country's strategic goals is the transition from a carbon economy to a green economy. International projects implemented in this regard are important, including the implementation of the 'Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania' signed in December 2022."

Brazil's Ambassador to Romania Ricardo Guerra de Araujo spoke about his country's expectations and goals for COP30, the role of world-leading countries in combating the negative consequences of climate change, and voiced Brazil’s support for Azerbaijan's efforts in COP29.
