Rep of Cote D'Ivoire: COP29 in Azerbaijan will be place for decision-making and action

The future COP29 will be a place of decision-making and action, said director of the meteorological service of Cote D'Ivoire, Daouda Konaté, according to Report's correspondent from Dubai.

“This will be a good opportunity for Azerbaijan and other countries to come together again not just for talk, but for action. I think that COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan, will be a conference of decisions and actions,” he noted.

The director of meteorology in Côte D'Ivoire noted that he intends to attend COP29 and has very high expectations from the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

“When I talk about decisions and actions, I mean that decisions will be made to determine areas for financial support for the nations most affected by the effects of climate change,” he said, adding that assistance from developed countries to developing countries will allow them to be more resilient in the current conditions, adapt to the new situation.

“Azerbaijan has a chance to make history by working on these issues and this is where decisions will be made on the distribution and proper management of the funds that many countries have pledged to contribute to the climate offset fund. At COP28, a decision was made to create this fund, the next will become a place for decisions on it,” he noted.

On December 11, Azerbaijan was officially announced as the host of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29.
