Rashad Nabiyev: Middle Corridor has become reliable and efficient passage

The Middle Corridor has become a reliable and efficient passage complementing global transit options, the Digital Development and Transport Minister of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev said during the ministerial roundtable "Sustainable, Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond" organized within the framework of COP29, Report informs.

According to the minister, Azerbaijan has experienced steady growth in total transit volume over the past few years: "Last year, transit shipments amounted to 13.4 million tons, of which 4.3 million tons were transported through the Middle Corridor. Since the beginning of this year, we have facilitated the movement of block trains from China via the Middle Corridor. We expect more than 300 block trains to pass through our territory by the end of the year, reaching Azerbaijani ports in 10 days and Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi in 12 days with average transit time. Next year, we plan to increase the number of block trains to 600. Our next target is 1,000 block trains."
