Azerbaijan, which will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in November, is facing unfounded hybrid attacks and an information campaign aimed at tarnishing the country's image, Ramid Namazov, the head of the temporary commission on foreign interference and hybrid threats, said during public discussions in the Parliament on the topic "Hybrid threats against COP29," Report informs.
"As this event approaches, some foreign media outlets uncleashed campaigns to discredit Azerbaijan. Forces opposing our country are trying to exert pressure under the pretext of the small number of women in the COP29 Organizing Committee, violations of freedom of speech and human rights, the absence of a peace treaty with Armenia, as well as the fact that Azerbaijan is an oil and gas producer. Such hybrid attacks against Azerbaijan are unacceptable," he noted.
