Turkish General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Muhsin Senturk expressed his pride and joy over Azerbaijan's high-level hosting of COP29, Report informs.
Speaking to journalists at COP29, Senturk noted that this event not only introduces Azerbaijan to the world but also brings attention to the self-inflicted harm caused by humans and how to address the ongoing damage. He added that such problems did not exist about 80 years ago.
The General Prosecutor believes that one of the most important factors in the fight against climate change is educating the public.
"Today, climate change is one of the biggest problems facing the world and humanity," Senturk stated. "For example, we saw 300 people lose their lives in the flood disaster in Spain. Droughts and rainfall are very severe. Climate change has already caused problems in the field of human rights."
"Power structures need to be directed towards the climate in order to protect and normalize the climate," he emphasized.
Senturk also stressed the importance of international cooperation in protecting the climate. "It is not enough for a small number of countries to take precautionary measures in this area. Everyone should take the necessary measures," he concluded.
