The Muslim Council of Elders highly appreciates Azerbaijan's initiatives in combating climate change, the council chairman Mohammed Abdelsalam said at the Baku Global Summit of Religious Leaders, Report informs.
"Azerbaijan is a country that shows great respect for all religions and cultures. I consider it symbolic that such an event, uniting religious leaders around the climate theme, is organized specifically in Azerbaijan. The Summit of Religious Leaders ahead of the COP29 climate conference has special significance," he noted.
Abdelsalam expressed confidence that the summit of religious leaders, chaired by the head of the Caucasus Muslims Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, will be productive.
"Such events should be held on a regular basis. Climate change is an important topic requiring immediate action, and joint efforts in this direction are important," he added.
