The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has created an exemplary model in the fight against climate change. The company actively promotes "green initiatives" and voluntarily reduces greenhouse gas emissions in its production processes, Minister of Economy and Chairman of SOCAR's Supervisory Board Mikayil Jabbarov said.
Report informs, citing SOCAR, that speaking at the event on SOCAR's decarbonization activities, organized by SOCAR in the "Green Zone" as part of COP29 in Baku, Jabbarov noted that decarbonization is a priority direction of Azerbaijan's energy policy, and large-scale measures are being implemented in the country in this area.
He also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating climate change.
SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, in turn, stressed the importance of strengthening global decarbonization efforts, developing "green energy," and sharing best practices in this field. He noted SOCAR's successful cooperation with international organizations and leading companies to achieve energy transformation and discussed the ongoing work in this direction.
During the event, participants exchanged views, emphasizing that such strategic initiatives play a key role in strengthening Azerbaijan's position on the path to sustainable development.
Representatives from the Ministry of Economy, SOCAR Group, Boston Consulting Group, JBIC, international organizations OGDC and IOGP, as well as other stakeholders participated in the discussions.
