The UN is fully committed to supporting the COP29 Presidency to achieve the ambitious goals set for this session, the Head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Azerbaijan, Kanako Mabuchi, said at the climate and water summit at the ADA University in Baku, Report informs.
According to Kanako Mabuchi, such summits are especially important now, when Azerbaijan is preparing its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
“COP is not only an event but also a process. Each COP event is a building block for the next session, moving us closer to our shared goal of keeping global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, helping vulnerable societies cope with the impacts of climate change, and achieving net-zero air pollution,” she said.
